Ongoing Programmes and Activities

Project Axshya

 ‘HOPES’ is engaged in the programmes of project Axshya- an attempt by CHAI (Catholic Health Association of India) to eradicate TB from our state. It carries out awareness classes, surveys and conducts community programmes on this cause. A report is submitted to CHAI every month.

Energy Conservation Programme (Urjakiran )

 We carry out energy management projects run by Energy Management Centre, Kerala and Centre for Environment and Development. Presently we are working for their current project URJAKIRAN 2016-17 collaborating with the local self- government on awareness regarding energy resource management. Classes are given to Kudumbasree women in two neighboring panchayats.This year the classes were given to the general public at Mutholi Grama Panchayat.

Street Plays

HOPES’ conducts Street Plays on various observation days to make people aware of the evils existing in the society. This is mostly done in coordination with the department of Social Work.

Visits to Destitute Home

With the aim of developing social awareness and cultivating social responsibility among students, ‘HOPES’ coordinates the students of various classes to visit different destitute homes during Christmas/Onam holidays. The students celebrated Christmas and Onam with the inmates .The destitute homes included MariaSadanam Pala, Serenity Home Paika, LourdBhavanAruvikuzhy, Devdan Centre Chethimattam, ShantinilayamAnthinadu and Paikada Bhavan Edappady.

Ceva Summer Camps

With the motto “Safe Children Safe India” ‘HOPES’ organizes summer camps for the students of classes  5,6 & 7 of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School,Cherpunkal  during the summer holidays. The camps are conducted in collaboration with the Cyriac Elias Voluntary Association (CEVA).

Child Education Sponsership Programme

CESP is the major flagship project of ‘HOPES’. “Through the children, to the family, to the society” is the aim of CESP. ‘HOPES’ provides basic education to the marginalized children. It, with the support of sponsors, provided books, bags and umbrellas to 30 selected children.

Red Ribbon Club

‘HOPES’ carries out blood donation activities of the college. A database of the blood group of the students and teachers is collected. Our students donate blood as and when required. Around 80 students donated their blood at various hospitals this year.
